"It's only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away." —Bee Gees
A story about families, secrets, growing up, and making peace with the past, this novel described how two half-sisters bonded despite initial prejudice and suspicion. Some things weren't resolved satisfactorily enough (the "explanation" on how the father became the jerk of the century was especially lackluster), but the book kept me engaged right up to the heartwarming ending. As always I was awed by de los Santos' beautiful writing.
