The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This one's a real gem. I found the book really engaging and descriptive in its dystopian universe. To me it's a little like Margaret Atwood's world in Oryx and Crake. I was a bit surprised by the level of violence, but I suppose there's no other way around it. I loved the characters, the grim reality, the uncertainty, the friendships and more than friendships that develop. I'm on Team Peeta.
