Words of a Bibliophile

"It's only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away." —Bee Gees

A Room with a View - E.M. Forster I thought the book lacks description, especially in the beginning. How are we supposed to know the difference in Charlotte & Lucy's ages? At first I thought they were only a few years apart but as I read further it seemed Charlotte's at least 20, or maybe even 30 years older. Why is George not described at all, and then suddenly he opens up his mouth to talk to Lucy? He's supposed to be the leading male character, but why does Cecil get several paragraphs of description and introduction while George gets none? But as I read further I got sucked into the story, and some of the comedic parts were indeed funny. The ending was lackluster at best but a quote near the end stood out for me: "Life... is a public performance on the violin, in which you must learn the instrument as you go along".
