Amsterdam by Ian McEwan
I should've been able to finish this book faster since it's so short, but it's not such a page-turner to me. The novel offers some interesting ruminations on human cruelty, hypocrisy and selfishness, and the unexpected twists in the plot are really good. However, I couldn't really connect to the main characters Clive and Vernon or be fully convinced of the motivations behind their drastic actions. As for Molly, I think she is intended to be a strong character who sets the story in motion and remains influential despite her death at the very beginning, but throughout the book it doesn't feel like has that strong of a presence at all.
