The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
If this review was just for the audio narrator, I would have given Imogen Church five stars. Her stellar delivery brings life to the Gothic aspects of the book and had me so freaked out that at some point I actually wondered whether this was a horror novel instead of a regular mystery/thriller.
The story itself has a few implausible aspects, some holes here and there. I was probably too influenced by my personal interpretation of The Turn of the Screw to guess the truth behind the mystery (Ware openly says this book's title is a nod to the classic novel). But what can I say, I was simply having too much fun being scared.
