Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde
This was my first Fforde and I guess it was just all right. I think he heaps too much detail on the reader that it feels stuffy, while the story is not engaging enough and some of the characters irk me. But I do think that it's funny and really smart and inventive. It doesn't feel very dystopian because the tone is somewhat light and witty but the ending makes up for it. Since it's the first of a trilogy, maybe the next books will be more interesting now that the foundations have been laid out.
