"It's only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away." —Bee Gees
If you're into dystopias and science fiction you should totally read The Year of the Flood, and the prequel, Oryx and Crake. Although I loved both books but after reading the sequel I still feel I enjoyed O&C more, perhaps because the sequel touched on a lot of the issues already discussed in the first book (genetic modification, clash between technology and humanity, a Big Brother-like military corps that rules the masses) so there was... kind of less shock value in it?
But it did expand on a lot of the issues I mentioned above and tied up several loose ends, and there's also a lot of discussion about religion and environmentalism that's really interesting. I think it's a lot funnier than O&C too. And these books are supposed to be part of a trilogy, so I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.
